Description

I General Informations

Our village Beslehem is named after  the holy birth place of our Lord Jesus Christ where St Joseph's Carmelite convent is situated. On 15 August 1967 this convent is planted at the Beslehem parish and during these 45 years of its life it has well rooted in the soil enriched with solitude, prayer and love and blooms to serve the people of God with fragrance of the evangelical counsels by spreading the good news. These Carmelite sisters share the love of Jesus through their humble services among these villagers for their spiritual and mental well-being. They contribute to the education of their children through providing primary education

It was a dream comes true for the Besleham parishioners to have a cmc convent in their parish. The blessing of the new house was done by Rev.Fr. Joseph  Edathichira who was the vicar of the parish at that time.  The occasion was blesses with  prayers of Fr. John Galus CMI, Fr. Arsinos, Fr.Thomas Veluthedath, Superior general Rev. Mother Mary Celine, Provincial Superior and many sisters and lay people.  The 'Tharavadu veedu'of this convent is the Secret Heart convent Karukutty, which was started on 1899.The house works progressively towards building faith in people. Working steadfastly to accomplish faith formation and social upliftment, the sisters have leadership to different religious organizations and family gatherings. House visit is a part of their healing act. Sisters co-operate with the parish priest in all activities and sisters keep good relationship with all people irrespective of cast, creed and religion.

From 1995 on-wards 'Snehajwala', a proactive praying community was envisioned and guided by cmc's  to sustain de-addiction in the lives of the people who are recovered from their alcoholic addictions and continue to be a milestone for peace and prosperity among the inhabitants of Bethlehem.

During the past 45 years, under the protecting hands of patron St Joseph this convent has imbued immense graces and intimacy with God  and has become a source and inspiration for the people of Bethlehem parish. Backed-up by this gratuitous past, at present, nine sisters led by Sr. Superior Sr.Frincy Maria are graciously serving the people of God under the paternal protection of St Joseph.
